Dirty Hands Garden Center!

November/December 2005

The earth gives life and seeks the man who walks gently upon it.
-- Hopi Legend

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

Though we get wrapped up (pun intended) in way too much this time of year, let’s try to keep it real, folks. Try not to lose sight of what and who is truly important to us. Gifts from, for, and about nature are always appropriate, and Dirty Hands Garden Center is a great place to begin your gift list.

Starting with the perfect stocking stuffer or teacher gift, we have a new line of marvelous playing cards. Each deck is beautifully made and we have scores of designs, perfect for those who appreciate our environment. They are educational as well as lovely. For the bird lovers among us, we have tasty treasures that will delight our avian friends, as well as birdfeeders that are portable and pack-able--perfect for mailing.

For the bibliophiles, we have marvelous little books on herbs signed by the author, and the area rehabbers klub (a.r.k.) has provided us with cookbooks filled with imaginative recipes and information on the wildlife around us. The proceeds benefit them all!

Wreaths, roping, door charms, and greens are fresh and awaiting your halls to deck.

Of course, gift certificates are always in style. For more ideas, come see us!

Although the cold winds blow, true gardeners don’t let a little drop in temperatures deter us. It’s a good idea to give your plants a little extra protection, in the form of mulches (don’t pack it to high around the trunks of trees and shrubs). For plants that are extra tender, a layer of newspaper is ideal underneath the mulch. The inks are soy-based, and the pulp in the paper will decompose. The earthworms love it, too! Plants still need moisture in the winter months, so if there’s little or no precipitation, be sure to keep them hydrated.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your continued, loyal support. We take nothing for granted. We wish you a joyous celebration of the holiday of your choice. Be kind to those you hold dear; cherish those you love.

If you’re having a hard time feeling festive, come visit Dirty Hands Garden Center, and Catch the Spirit! (Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)

Live well, plant happy! With Dirty Hands Garden Center!

Folks, please remember to ALWAYS bring plant and bug samples in a plastic bag. It is very important that everyone be aware of the possibility of contaminating businesses, homeowner properties, and the Earth in general (think of it as a horticultural condom).
THANK YOU!
