The latest dirt from...
Dirty Hands Garden Center!
March 2004
Only when you have no thing
in your mind and no mind in things
are you vacant and spiritual,
empty and marvelous.

It seems that now, more than ever, people are trying especially hard to make their busy lives
less stressful and more meaningful. Gardening can help in a subtle way that few other
activities can manage, and the guiding principles of Zen gardening can lead to the creation
of a truly calming, harmonious, and uplifting environment.
For those of you who may have
attended the recent Maymont Flower and Garden Show, perhaps you were able to view and
participate in, the Zen Garden that
Dirty Hands Garden Center created. While not for
everyone, it certainly caused folks to stop, look, and listen, if only for a moment.
That, exactly, was the point-to challenge your concept of what makes a garden.
Overall, our "Nirvana" exhibit was extremely well-received; mirror and all, and we
won a ribbon-an unexpected delight!
Many of us have been looking forward to spring (March 20 is the official mark), and with that,
the planting of seeds. Dirty Hands Garden Center is proud to announce the arrival of Renee's
Garden Seeds to our fair enterprise. Some of you may recall the heirloom quality of Shepherd's
seeds. Renee's Garden Seeds is its incarnation, as Renee purchased the company from her
mother. WE are one of only two locations in the entire Richmond area to offer this excellent
line! We welcome your perusal!
As follows with every spring, Dirty Hands Garden Center is receiving, weekly shipments of
fabulous flora, as well as amazing garden art, statuary, and accessories for YOUR gardening
pleasure. Cole Crops, new violas, pansies, and perennials are here, along with fresh fruits,
trees, and shrubs. If you haven't visited us lately, it's time to GET INSPIRED! WE'RE CLOSER
THAN YOU THINK!

Folks, please remember to ALWAYS bring plant and bug samples in a plastic bag.
It is very important that everyone be aware of the possibility of contaminating businesses, homeowner properties, and the Earth in general (think of it as a horticultural condom).
THANK YOU!
